The Challenge

Convert a 24 bedroom council run estate, into a 100 bedroom hotel complex that attracts the local community to become a hub for celebration, relaxation and fitness.

Reinstated Heritage

A lot of existing details has been removed or covered up. We unearthed beautiful parquet floors and reinstated architectural ceilings to bring back the grandeur.

Built for the Future

We looked at numerous business cases for how this hotel could be successful. We baked in flexibility to layouts and used the budget where it would make the most impact.

New Identity

The sale of this building was controversial in the local community. We built something to serve them, that they could enjoy, and create new jobs in the area.

Create Revenue Streams

We identified exactly who would use the hotel throughout the week. Making use of areas for an independent boutique gym alongside the conference and wedding guests.

Our Approach

We started by understanding who the customers are going to be. For this hotel there were numerous demographics to target on different days of the week. By building it for them, we created clear separation between gym, wedding and hotel guests to ensure consistent guest experiences throughout.

Guest Experience Enhancement

We looked in depth at touchpoints the guests have throughout the building and created intriguing viewpoints and wow moments to help them navigate the hotel and feel at home.

Local Culture Integration

We introduced a new boutique gym concept on the site to bring more of the local community into the site. By making this a huge focus it brought in another demographic to the site.

Diverse Portfolio for Attracting Guests

We looked at numerous business cases for how this hotel could be successful. By creating dedicated brands for the restaurant, gym and tearoom we diversified the business to attract different demographics to keep the hotel full and bustling everyday of the week.

Our redesign of Easthampstead Park Hotel exceeded all expectations. The boutique gym was a particular success and was full within six months and brought huge attention to the site. It is now booked up at every wedding season and draws huge crowds for corporate away days.

Client Testimonial

“All I had to do was get them through the door and they were sold.
Lauren was able to take my abstract ideas and feelings and turn them into a cohesive and quantifiable design. Lauren’s openness to collaboration and her desire to give you what you want, really stood out to me. There was one occasion I really wanted a certain design aspect, and Lauren told me she had an idea which was totally different but would fit the design better. I had faith and she was totally right. This was a theme throughout our build. Trust Lauren’s instincts. Her commitment to understanding the operational aspects of the business was also a huge asset and usually something designers don’t consider.”
